Remind God of His Word

Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted.
Isaiah 43:26 (NKJV)

God does not forget the things He speaks, as though He needed reminding. Neither does a judge need reminding of the law when a case is presented to him, yet a lawyer sets out his understanding of the law to persuade the court in his favour, and for the same reason God wants us to state our case.

We need to show our comprehension of the Word God has set before us, whether as promises, blessings or instructions. This is probably one of the biggest reasons many of God's people never win their cases in heaven: they show no comprehension of the Word. One of the reasons the Lord gives the prophetic word is to help us argue our case by putting Him in remembrance of what He has said.

Remember that Jesus is the High Priest of our confession, so the words we utter in prayer are very important. We need to learn the art of setting out our reasons before God, using both the written and the prophetic Word to present our case. God's Word gives us the ability to speak to God as though He were speaking to Himself. When you reason with His Word, there is no way the case can be lost; it is the way of absolute favour.

There is another dimension to this spiritual work, and that is the ministry of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the greatest advocate there is. He has never lost a case, and He is on our side, so this is an area where He shines, if we let Him.

That is one reason we speak in tongues so much: it allows this ministry of the Spirit to take precedence in us. When you pray this way, you say to the Spirit, "Help me plead my case concerning this matter before the Father. I yield my tongue to You. Speak through me, in Jesus' name." You will hear tongues you have never heard, words that never entered your understanding, phrases and statements coming out of your mouth that will astonish you. That is the ministry of the Spirit taking place in prayer, and you will find judgement after judgement in your favour. Train yourself to rely on the Holy Spirit in your prayer life.
