The Promise of Waiting on the Lord
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
This scripture is a promise made by God, an invitation into a dimension of life that many have yet to enter. The Bible reveals here a truth so powerful that it can revolutionise your life, and the promise is made to those who wait on the Lord.
The word "wait" means to be intertwined, to be twisted and bound together with the Lord. The knot of a rope expresses the thought clearly: the strength of a rope lies in the way its strands have been interwoven. This is what it means to wait: to become one with the Lord by spending time in His presence.
Sadly, this is a principle in which many of us fall short. We are influenced by the fast pace of today's world, even in our fellowship with God. We are always in a hurry to finish praying, always in haste to go about our day, and yet the secret to greatness and to the good life lies in learning to invest time with God. Perhaps that is why we are so drained and tire so easily.
The promise of waiting on the Lord is fourfold.
- You will be strengthened with God's strength. The Hebrew word for "renew" implies an exchange of human strength for divine strength.
- You will be given access into the realms of the Spirit of God, and you will ascend to higher dimensions of life than many reach in their lifetime. God's presence will be your home, and you will live above the storms of life. This is grace for ascension.
- You will move through life with the anointing of speed. There will be speed and agility about you, a supernatural productivity, and you will not tire.
- You will walk through life energised, fulfilling God's destiny with grace.
The strength of God in your life will enable you to fly, run and walk through life supernaturally. Wait on the Lord.
