The Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Your Spaceship to Heaven

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

After Jesus rose from the dead, perhaps the greatest proof that He was still a human being, even though all His blood had been shed, came when He told Thomas to put his fingers into His hands and His side. That is probably the strongest proof of the life of Jesus today, and ironically, it was unbelief that made it possible.

I have been thinking recently about the reality of Christ, and about how to have it fully actualised in our lives, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a good place to start. Before Jesus, men held different beliefs about the afterlife. There was a great deal of philosophy around it, because the question of eternity has always eluded mankind, partly because men were created from eternity. It was only after the death and resurrection of Jesus that all the theories could be laid to rest. This is why the resurrection of Christ is so integral to Christianity: without it, the hope of eternity with God does not exist.

Jesus still needed to prove His humanity after His resurrection, even though His divinity was certain. He is the Son of God incarnate, but the whole purpose of His becoming a man was to bridge the gap between the celestial and the terrestrial, to marry the two dimensions of existence. If God can live in the realm of men, then it must be possible for men to live and move in the realm of God.

Through Christ's resurrection, the divine and the natural can have a healthy relationship; God and man can dwell together in unity. The opening scripture is so powerful because it expresses a profound idea. First, a man can ascend into heaven now; he does not need to die first, for because Jesus ascended into the heavens as a whole man, you and I can ascend by His Spirit to the same places. Second, it confirms the geography of heaven: that it is a real place, in a real location, with a real God. I strongly believe this is why space agencies and billionaires have been tirelessly spending their resources searching in space: the desire to ascend and explore the heavens is a yearning in man's heart. But Jesus satisfied it, and made it possible without billions and spaceships. His resurrection is our technology, and His blood our spaceship.

Men can ascend to where Jesus is today, not only to explore but to seek answers. Scientists tell us that the answers for our civilisation lie in space, and they are right, and you can seek them out today. Jesus ascended physically, proving that human bodies, human beings, have a place in heaven with God today. Through the body of Jesus Christ, God has become tangible to anyone who comes to Him through Jesus Christ. What a reality! Draw near to God today; He is waiting for you.
