Why Humans Fail to Actualise the Word of God in Their Lives

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

The word of His power is the secret of all life. All things operate by the Word. Heaven itself exists by that Word, and all the resources of the universe operate because of it. All things are mandated by the Word, and should the Word cease to function, everything else would cease to exist.

Heaven and earth are integrally related through the Word, because both originate from the same source. The consummation, the fulfilment, of the Word depends as much on heaven's response as on how well its recipients on earth respond to it. This is one of the reasons the Word fails in some lives, or rather, why we fail the Word.

Ministering spirits are sent to the heirs of salvation, to those who have the promises of God and who carry the Word. How these spirits relate to them depends on the Word spoken over their lives (remember that the angel said to Jacob, "I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you"), and on how well we ourselves respond to it. It appears that the angels have reached some level in the Word that makes them responsible for bringing it to pass, as though something were put in them through a criterion they had to meet, qualifying them to participate in its fulfilment. That is why angels can wait years on earth to fulfil a single word. There must be something that binds them to the function of the Word. Looking deeper into the matter, one can see that this criterion, this test, is attained first, before any angel becomes responsible for the fulfilment of the Word: they must become one with the Word they will fulfil on earth.

Down here on earth there are human beings who are recipients of the Word. At first they are ignorant of how the Word operates. Their lives have been shaped by their environments and upbringing, and in their own strength they are incapable of carrying the Word over their lives successfully. For them to carry out the word of the Lord, it must be accomplished in the same way as with the angels: through oneness with the Word. God sends them men, as apostles, prophets, evangelists and pastors, to help them discern the Word and to train them to become one with it. They must rise to become one with the Word. Their aim should be to have the Word saturate their lives and bring them to the level where their partners, the angels, can begin to operate for them and with them.

At that point they are at the finish line of fulfilling the word sent into their lives. They now have the responsibility to learn the function of the Word, and of those who carry it, the angels. It is something of a journey of discovery.

Look at Elisha. He had no doubt about the role of the Word. One man could stand against the military of an entire nation and control and defeat it without breaking a sweat, because Elisha had learnt to carry the Word; he was acquainted with the resources the Word provides. The host of heaven were in no position to ignore his request to God that the army be struck blind. His servant had not yet arrived in this dimension, which is why the situation seemed so enormous to him.

For instance, angels assigned for wealth will work with those entrusted with wealth, but those people must go through the process of saturation. The word of God is tried seven times. The human being plays an important role in the fulfilment of what was spoken, because the process proves the commitment and integrity of God to His Word. Daniel had answers to his prayers, but he alone determined the speed of those answers. He was the main factor in the scenario, and the angels reported to him and explained the delays.

This is why it is imperative for human beings to learn their role in the carrying out of the will of God. There appears to be a substance that both the spiritual and the natural must have to complete the process of fulfilling the Word. The Word is perfect, but the agents who carry it out may not be. The human may lack certain insights, or may not be obedient, and because of that the fulfilment of God's will is delayed. The vessel must ensure that he saturates his life with enough strength and faith to carry the Word. Without it, he gradually runs the risk of dying without ever seeing the Word fulfilled.

This is the tragedy of humankind: we have learnt to love the things we see more than the Word we cannot see. What a person must figure out is what qualified the angels to carry the Word. We can see from the Bible that angels have the ability to choose, so in a sense they choose to serve mankind, but they must undergo a process in God, just as human beings must. Human beings must treasure the Word above their own lives, their loved ones and their highest ambitions, and the angels may have had to pass through a similar process that enabled them to carry the Word. Every carrier of the Word must be tested; ask Joseph, in Psalm 105.

The fact that angels must give an account of their work is of great interest. If only human beings could forget a little about the cares of this life, and give themselves to meditation and to engaging the processes of the spirit realm, it would go well with them. The problem on earth is the desperation to get people to believe the Word. Christians, for that matter, do not believe the Word of God, and so they lower its value in their lives, which delays and hurts their journey.

The truth is a hidden treasure, and pearls are not cast before swine. Everyone must be prepared to give up everything for one word from God, even his life if need be.

Humans lack a thing that the angels have acquired, which enables them to carry out the Word of God successfully.

Their secret is that they have wholly bought into the programme of God for the ages. It is deep, I know, but this is what all participants in the Word must have for its fulfilment. Anything less is a delay.

Listen: for the Word of God to be stolen from a person, he must be engaged in battle with forces trying to make him disbelieve that the word, the promise, exists. To give up is to give those forces access. If we want to win with God, we must be willing to cooperate fully with the standards laid out in the plan of God for our lives. The Word is not to be taken lightly.
