Come to Goshen: A Prophetic Admonition

So Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions there and grew and multiplied exceedingly.

Genesis 47:27 (NKJV)

The conditions that forced Jacob to leave Canaan are the same conditions that are about to befall the world: global famine and destruction. Jacob had to migrate because a famine struck the whole world of his time. Throughout the history of mankind we find events like these recurring periodically, divine judgements carried out by God for rebellion and for transgressions against His ordinances. The famine in Joseph's day was no different, except that this time God, keeping His covenant with Abraham, sent a man ahead of time, with the spirit of wisdom, through divinely orchestrated events, for the preservation of Israel (Psalm 105).

Back in August, during a Sunday service, just after worship and before ministering the word, I was caught up in the Spirit. This is how it happened. I was greeting the brethren when suddenly, at the edge of my right eye, I saw in the Spirit a vision of a man walking toward me. I suppose I was already in the Spirit, because I could see the people and the vision at the same time. I stopped talking and waited, and as the figure drew nearer I lost sight of the physical and became fully conscious of the spirit realm. And behold, it was Solomon. People ask how I knew who it was. In the spirit realm one is given a knowing of persons without having known them. The man introduced himself: "I am Solomon, and I have been sent to show you what is to take place upon your world in the coming year." I was astonished. Then I saw that he was holding a book, and on its cover was written: YEAR 2022: PROSPERITY AND DESTRUCTION. When I had read it, the man said, "There will be prosperity and destruction. Take the book and see." The vision that followed shook me, and I voiced some of it in that meeting.

I saw great prosperity given to God's people, and at the same time very contrasting events: global destruction, natural, political and corporate catastrophes. I saw national famines and nations defaulting. I saw a new global system, and the beginning of the death of the dollar.

As I meditated on this vision, I asked where in Scripture an event of such proportions had occurred, and how God had preserved His people. The answer was the seven years of plenty and of famine; it seems history keeps repeating itself. Pharaoh had been given a dream he could not interpret, but there was Joseph, anointed with the spirit of wisdom. He interpreted it and gave solutions for the coming ordeal. He represented the workings of wisdom, in the same way that the Lord chose Solomon to give me the vision.

Without going into the details of the story (read from Genesis 40), two years into the famine Jacob and his family ran out of provisions in Canaan. Food had run out everywhere, and the only place in the world where it could be bought was Egypt, where Joseph, wisdom, whom his brothers had sold as a slave years before, was now ruler. Unknown to him, it was by divine providence that Joseph went through all he went through; trust the foreordination of God, for the things we suffer are at times divine paths to the destiny ordained for us. After revealing himself to his brothers, Joseph sent for his father to come and live in Goshen, the land he had set apart for his family, so that he could provide for them and care for them through the remaining five years of the famine. In Goshen Jacob would not need to buy food; provision would be given by the instructions of Joseph, of wisdom. Prophetically, then, Goshen is the city established by wisdom to preserve, give rest to and provide for His people. The word Goshen means "to draw out." Joseph drew Jacob out of the severity of the famine in Canaan and lodged him in the safety of his care.

Generations later, when Israel had become slaves in Egypt, the land of Goshen was spared from the severe judgements of God on Pharaoh and on Egypt, which is a type of the world. Goshen became the only safe, divinely protected place in all of Egypt. They experienced none of the calamities that befell Egypt, and yet Goshen was in Egypt. This means that God's people can live unscathed by the destruction and calamities coming on the world. If we remain in Goshen, none of these divine judgements need affect us; we can live through the catastrophe of economic famine and experience peace and prosperity.

Goshen is the city of wisdom, reserved for those who love Him and have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. If you have ears to hear, then by all means follow the direction of the Spirit's voice. He and His voice are the Goshen of the Church, and together with His true servants they are working to preserve the people of God. Will you come to Goshen? He will give you peace in the coming storm, prosper you in the midst of the coming famine, and guide you by His light through the darkness on the horizon. Accept the invitation. Come to Goshen.
