Faith and Speaking in Tongues

But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.

Prayer and faith are probably the most important factors in actualising the realities of God in our lives. These two spiritual forces supplement each other greatly. Unfortunately, most people do not know how to strengthen their faith through prayer, and so they end up in a spiritual dilemma, finding it hard to sustain a strong prayer life because their faith has been weakened.

Paul says that for one to approach God, faith in God and in His ability must already be settled in the heart of the seeker. Confidence and boldness in prayer come from our faith in the Lord, and when that faith has been weakened, it becomes very difficult to sustain a fruitful prayer life.

While we know that prayer does not directly impart or grow faith, it does create the right spiritual setting to receive faith, whether from the voice of God or from the manifestation of the Spirit. And one thing prayer does that nothing else can do is to protect and strengthen the faith we have received.

God created a system of prayer and faith for His children, to help them cement their faith by also imparting spiritual energy to their prayer lives. This system is praying in the Spirit. I believe it is one of the most underappreciated gifts in the body of Christ, because if we truly comprehended the depth of its value, we would soar in our life of faith and surely see more of God's promises come to pass.

That is why in our ministry we promote this kind of prayer. It is the highest expression of spiritual praying. First, every word is a perfect expression of what you truly want to say to God. Second, the Holy Spirit energises your spirit, soul and body as you engage in it, and in the process establishes your spiritual life on a greater platform of faith. Praying in the Holy Spirit is the truest form of prayer there is; you can be certain that you are praying from your spirit. Exalt this kind of prayer in your life, especially when you have received prophetic words. Those words are the life of faith, and prayer brings you into their reality.
