The Grace of God

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

I have always been fascinated by the concept of grace and how it works. The easy definition is "unmerited favour," and while this carries an element of truth, the scripture above, along with many other biblical experiences, suggests that there are conditions to the grace of God, and that there are things an individual can do to activate it.

Everyone who became great, and is remembered in the Bible, had the grace of God to thank. Grace lies behind the greatness of kingdoms and of men, and behind the wealth and power of kings. It spared the lives of many, guaranteed the safety and victory of armies that relied on it, and sustained the genealogy of Jesus. The grace of God is the most important thing a man can possess. Below are a few definitions I have discovered in my study of grace and its operation, though the greatest definition of grace is Jesus, and He should be the pursuit of all men.

Grace is what makes a man attractive to spirits, to the Holy Spirit and to the angels; it is the pleasure God derives from a man.
When a man has grace, he has gained the pleasure and favour of the Spirit of God. He is attractive to God and to His angels.
The spirit realm responds to a man who is attractive to God.
Grace is a man's greatest advantage in the realm of men and of spirits, because such a man will have the backing of God in this life.
The criteria a man must meet to find grace can be discovered only by walking the pathway of purity.
Grace lies behind every manifestation of the glory of God in a man's life. A man who seeks the glory and presence of God must first find grace in the eyes of God.
Notice that grace works on the eyes of God, and not necessarily on His heart; it is invoked by what God sees. It is what God sees upon a man that determines His intervention, impartation and operation. Purity, righteousness and justice are among the many virtues that draw the eyes of God to a man, because God takes pleasure in those who choose that life, and will stop at nothing to make His favour upon such a man seen. Marriage, for instance, is pleasant before God, and so the man who marries finds favour from the Lord.

Grace from God should be the pursuit of all God's people.
