The Ministry of the Word

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

The Holy Spirit began to teach me about the ministry of the word, and I received an understanding of it. It is remarkable to realise that the word of God has a ministry in our lives, and that we can take advantage of that ministry.

The word "ministry" translates the Greek diakonia, which denotes an attendant given to a service, or an office of service, in order to render that service. The word of God, therefore, when it is ministered, carries a spiritual service to the one receiving it, so that it produces in the hearer the content of its message.

For instance, if a minister gives a message on healing, the ministry the word carries in that meeting will be to administer healing, in its different degrees, to those present. Such a ministry can be carried out only through the power of the Spirit, for the word is the agency the Holy Spirit uses to bless lives.

Another important truth is that the word of God has personality, and takes on the character of a person's desire. Put simply, He takes on the form of what you have faith for. That is the beauty of the ministry of the word of God in our lives and in our spirits.
