The Rod of a King

Where the word of a king is, there is power; And who may say to him, "What are you doing?"

Ecclesiastes 8:4 (NKJV)

The rod of a king is his words; what he says is law. With the rod of His mouth Jesus rules the nations, and He gives the same ability to all the kings of the Kingdom. Words influence the activities of the Kingdom on the earth; the spoken word is instrumental in what happens on earth. It is one reason we speak when we pray. Prayer must be heard; there must be communication between the mortal and the immortal. Prayer is not only an interplanetary communication system; it bridges the activities of earth and the determinations of heaven. The greatest power given to mankind is the mouth. It is the instrument of the divine. Think about it: God is His Word, and the Word is God. What better describes the operations of the universe and of life than words?

And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Heaven's legislative centre is not in heaven but on earth; heaven mobilises according to the permission granted on earth. This is the power of attorney given to the Church. Jesus said that His words are spirit, and we understand that words govern the dimension of spirits, from which everything in the physical came. So if the spirit realm was created by words, then words control every aspect of creation and of life. Everything physical has its origin in the spirit, and the spirit originates from the Word, and all invisible and visible realities exist in Christ, who is the Word. Yes, the Word creates all spiritual and physical existence. He is the origin of creation, and He has designated that creation be governed by the voice of God. The life force of creation depends on what God is saying.

The Garden was God's first sanctuary on earth, and Adam was His first prophet to creation, set to function as a god. Christ, however, is the second and final sanctuary: "It pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell." He is the Head of the eternal government of God. Once you discover this, you will operate in a greater dimension of life, and the world will be your servant. When Jesus walked the earth, creation served Him, the elements obeyed Him, and He tamed the world, and He did it with His words. This was Jesus' primary way of operating. He healed by a word. He solved the problems of His generation with words; whether they were problems of body, spirit or soul, His words could solve them all. Beloved, if you do not spend time speaking the Word to yourself and to your life, you will become a victim of adversity and circumstance. You were born to function like Jesus, to release the power of God into action by speaking.

The centurion understood this mystery. He said, "Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."

Jesus marvelled, because the man understood the law that governs the universe: "only speak a word." This man understood how to route God's power to his situation and see results; he asked for the word to be spoken. And Jesus said to him, "Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you." Faith and words together create a divine explosion, and the impossible takes place. Jesus operated by the system of words. He dealt with devils by words. He brought forth money by words, for money is spiritual and responds to spiritual words. The disciples toiled all night and caught nothing, but Jesus came in the morning and spoke one word, and the fish came in abundance. This is the ministry of the rest of God: the release of the word.

And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the Lord's people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them!
