This Is My Son

And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

You are special to God, and not merely as one of His many children, but in the same way He thinks of Jesus. God does not value you any less than He values Jesus. Think about that. That revelation could revolutionise a nation.

The first time we hear the Father speak concerning Jesus is immediately after He had received the Holy Spirit. Before that point, according to the Scriptures, Jesus had done nothing notable that would provoke such a dramatic manifestation from the Father. Yet the Father was so pleased with Him that He thought it necessary to part the heavens and let the world know how He felt about His Son.

This proves that we do not please God because we do things for Him. We please Him because we have His Spirit in us. We please Him because we are willing to fulfil all righteousness, because we are concerned about His business, because we love His Word, and simply because we are His children. Beloved, you are the delight of the Father.

The greatest seal of God's approval on a life is not the mighty acts of power that amaze the world; it is the ability to hear God's voice in our spirits. Such blessedness is priceless, and it should remind us of the Father's love for us. May God's voice grow stronger in your life.
